Seasons on the Swamp Rabbit

In my beautiful hometown of Greenville, SC, we have a 28-mile greenway called the Swamp Rabbit Trail. As a mediocre, but enthusiastic, runner, I use this trail often to train for longer races or just to enjoy a walk. The variety in it is wonderful. Some parts feel totally secluded, some parts go right through downtown. But for the most part, it combines nature and humanity in a lovely mixture. To celebrate this community asset I started this painting series. It was fall when I started but I felt that since the trail is glorious in all seasons, I couldn't restrict myself to just autumn. So the project expanded to all four. The beautiful colors of fall, the serenity of winter, the explosion of spring, and the languid days of summer each deserve attention as the trail provides the perfect venue to consider these gifts of nature all year long.
